ARLINGTON, VA — ARC, the financial settlement link between airlines and travel sellers, reported that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies rose 5.15% year-over-year in the first seven months of 2014 compared to the same period last year, totaling US$56 billion versus $53.3 billion in 2013.
Sales for July 2014 were up 5.2% at $7.5 billion compared to July 2013 at $7.2 billion.
Ticket transactions through July 2014 increased 2.65% over the same period in 2013 to 89.8 million. Year-to-date passenger segments increased 2.82% to 221.6 million, compared to 215.3 million in 2013.
